New site layout~!
As you can see, there’s a brand spanking new layout! =D
What I need help on is graphics! =D So those of you not in the current graphics team, here is your turn to shine! See that image on the front page with the silhouettes? Well, that’s part of a rotational graphics showcase. It’s randomized so that every time you visit the site, the image changes =)
Of course, that’s not functioning right now since I have no images to change it so, so that’s where you come in! So what I need -you- guys to do is make a 345px × 226px image to go in that spot. It can feature anyone or anything you want as long as there is some connection to SnM in some way. You can make promo images for your IKiSS group, pictures of your recording equipment, pictures of yourself, generic IRL artist images, vectors, cute pictures, anything goes, really!
Just submit them in this thread and and I’ll put them up as soon as I can =D
Also, you can see how the new discography will look like by clicking on any of the holiday/event releases =)

[Interview oo1] Gen. 1 - Miri (Leader)
Reina: Hey, Miri~!
Â
Miri: Hiya Reina~ =D
Â
Reina: So I have a few questions. First off, how are you and how was your convention?
Â
Miri: I am currently extremely tired x_x The Intel ISEF was basically an entire week of nerd parties and discussions, so I was right at home and happy. Like for example, over dinner on Tuesday at the Georgia World Aquarium, we sat there and talked about mechanical media for negative refraction and miRNAs and inner ear development and photostatis assays.
Â
Reina: You nerd. I still love you though. <3
Â
Miri: I try.
Â
Reina: So for newer members, when did you start Sekai no Melody and where did you come up with the idea?
Â
Miri: SnM actually began in December of 2004, after I listened to a multilingual reel of the song Colors of the Wind from Disney’s Pocahontas. I found it amazing that so many languages could be placed in that same song; it made me feel a true sense of unity and inspiration. I started a similar project on the Mother Symphony forums (for MMPPP fans), and our first release was a multilingual reel of Legend of Mermaid. Unfortunately, life got in the way and SnM fell into dormancy early 2005, but I began making plans to revive it summer 2006 after Arashi expressed great interest in it. We officially opened our doors November of 2006 =)
Â
Reina: Awesome, I auditioned in November of 2006. I’m glad I did! Next question, how do you feel about Sekai no Melody’s progress? There are over 200 members now!
Â
Miri: I’m really excited that it’s become this big of an organization! =D Every so often when I feel down I’ll just stare at the huge list of releases we’ve done and the ones currently in production and I’ll think, “Damn. We really have some ownage skills in this group.” It does get hard to manage at times, and we have our fair share of internal bickerings, but it always works itself out in the end =) I’m really proud of the fact that we are one of the largest auto-admit groups out there (no true “auditions”) since it gives everyone a chance to participate in the fun!
Â
Reina: It must be amazing to how your project be this huge. What are some of your future plans for Sekai no Melody?
Â
Miri: Hmm.. right now I don’t have any specific plans for SnM thus far. It would be awesome if we could get noticed by media or anyone else outside of the Internet, but it’s actually not a major goal of mine. I created SnM for enjoyment and to connect people around the world, and THAT - more than record deals and gigs, etc. - is the most important thing. I guess I just want to continue to make SnM well-known in the internet world and to continue to keep it a fun and exciting environment to sing together with others who share your passion.
Â
Reina: It is a nice environment and it is great that you accept everyone. It gives everyone a chance to show off their skills or even improve them. I’m going to ask some personal questions now!
Â
Miri: Haha, kay
Â
Reina:
1)Â Â What is your favourite colour?
2)Â Â How about favourite food?
3)Â Â Or favorite sound?
4)Â Â Or even your favorite time of day?
5)Â Â Do you enjoy wearing pants or skirts more?
6)Â Â Is it tomato or tomahto?
7)Â Â Is it really hot in Topeka?*
8 )Â Â How many times do you brush your hair a day?
9)Â Â Black or white. Choose one.
10) I like even numbers so…ultimate question, what university will you be attending next year?
Miri:
1) I like black most. It goes well with almost everything, and it’s soothing to the eyes. My second favourite colour is either red (goes well with black) or purple (gorgeous and elegant!)
2) Real food or just anything edible? Haha. I am a huge fan of devilled eggs, but the only restaurant that serves them in my city got burnt down a year ago, so I’m sad =<
Â
Reina: I love devilled eggs too! My aunts make really good ones but I only get them at Thanksgiving! ;-;
Â
Miri:
3) Favourite sound? That’s a strange one! I think I like best the whirring sound of a computer… no seriously.
4) Favourite time of day is definitely evening =D Not too late but not too early, probably from 9pm to 2am or so. Everything either calms down (so i can sit and get work done) or it gets exciting and festive (when I’m at parties and such).
5) I used to wear nothing but skirts because I used to be uber-feminist, but nowadays I like pants a lot more. I’m actually a lot more rough-and-tumble nowadays than I used to be. For example, today I had to package up a 40-pound wooden display board and send it off on UPS, and I could never have done that if I had been in a skirt!
6) Tomato. And speaking of which, those are my favourite vegetable!
7) I wouldn’t know, since I don’t live in Topeka! I’m sure a Google search will get you your answer, though
8 ) Once, four strokes to each side. My hair’s perfectly straight and amazingly untamable, so I don’t even bother.
9) Black =D
Reina: Haha, obviously. Blame Umi for that question. Kidding <3
Miri:
10) MIT~! to major in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences, with a minor in either physics or biology.
Reina: Amazing! You are going to do so well. I will let you go but thank you sooo much for letting me interview you!
Miri: No problem, Reipi have a good night!
Â
*If anyone knows what this is from, you get brownie points.

New Sekai Project: ENGLISH! Project
Rawr. This place is dead - we need more updates people! And we need more things to update >3<
At about 7 PM GMT on May 4th 2008, a new Project forum appeared on the Seaki boards - ”ENGLISH! Project” is about to make its debut. “English! Project”, or E!P is co-lead by Jojibear, CassandraMorgan and prettycatchy and aims to cover only English songs.
Sign-ups for the first release, entitled “Let’s Get This Party Started”, is already underway and has been met with great success - hopefully, this will continue for the rest of its lifetime. The tracklisting for this mini-album release will be:
- Let’s Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas
- Get the Party Started - Pink
- Dancing Queen - ABBA
- Tide is High (Get the Feeling) - Atomic Kitten
- solo song - decided by audition
- We Will Rock You - Queen
The theme for these release is “Party”, so all songs sent in for audition (for the solo song, track 05) will be of a party nature.
Well, all there’s left to say is: GOOD LUCK E!P!

Yoyoyo, mic check, 1, 2, 1, 2.
WHY HELLO THAR.
Let me just note that introduction posts are probably my weakest suit in blogging. All of the other lovely ladies in this blog who’ve posted before me have totally showed me up, I guarantee you. I totally forgot to shell out the cash to hire those witty introduction posting ninjas to spruce up my entry, so instead, you all get to suffer/browse through my attempt at introducing myself. Good luck with that.
So anyway! My name’s Samantha. More commonly known around here as Solaire, or any variant of that– including such lovely nonsense like Solarin, Soso, Solipop, Solly-Dolly, that one with the face, and, uh, Sammy. Umi, my fellow generation 2-er and omgBFF is pretty much the only one who actually calls me by a variant of my real name. But hey, if that’s you’re cup of tea, you’re welcome to, too! Oh. And I should note now that another one of my omgBFFs and fellow blogger on here, Sorachu, is also known as Soso. That’s not some kind of bizarre mistake or mix-up, we just… call each other Soso. So, from here on out, if I’m referring to Soso, I’m talking about Sorachu. And if she’s talking about Soso, she’s probably referring to me. Unless she’s talking in first person, but she’s generally sane, so she doesn’t tend to do that so much…
All right, enough about nicknames, let’s get onto the other basics. I’m 19, and a sophomore attending St. Lawrence University. Never heard of it? Don’t feel bad. The school’s biggest claims to fame are that Viggo Mortensen and Kirk Douglas graduated from here. Woohoo. It’s in the middle of nowhere. Literally. That phrase gets overused a lot, but trust me when I say it’s in the middle of nowhere. Seriously, the college is located in the middle of a rural village of about 5000 people or something ridiculous like that. There’s woods and mountains all around, and for one of the school’s studying abroad options, they basically offer a semester where you go camping in the mountains. For… four months. So, yeah, trust me. Middle of nowhere. During the parts of the year where I’m not up at college, I live down in central New York, in a city that’s, uh, much more populated than the one my college is in, thankfully.
I’m pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in global studies (or international relations,’as it’s called at normal colleges), and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Hooray! On a more positive note, I’m highly anticipating January 2009, because I’ll be studying abroad for a semester in Japan then! I’ll be attending Kansai Gaidai University when I’m there.
So, um, other than purely academic stuff, I spend most of my time working in my extracurricular clubs and committees, napping, dancing, writing, cooking fun stuff when I have access to a decent kitchen (read: when I’m not at school), spoiling my two ridiculously adorable Italian Greyhounds, improving my Tetris skillz, watching CNN and the Discovery Channel incessantly, ranting about politics, amassing useless knowledge about obscure countries (I’m telling you all, one day Liechtenstein and Iceland will rise up and conquer the Earth), fangirling AKB48, and– oh yeah, singing!
Which brings me to what’s at the heart of all this– Sekai no Melody! I joined Sekai no Melody back in November 2006, and I was placed in the awesome generation 2! I was a soloist in the pre-revamp days. But now I’m a part of TarotCafe, as well as generation 1 of Pure Ambition. Both groups are total and pure win, and you should definitely listen to our stuff if you haven’t already.
I’m also a co-leader of SNM48 along with Umi and Miri. SNM48 is one of Sekai no Melody’s subprojects, and covers AKB48 songs. In case you hadn’t guessed, SNM48 is also pure and total win. At the moment, we’ve released our first single, ‘Boku no Taiyou,’ which was absolutely awesome, and if you haven’t listened to that, what are you waiting around for?! We’re almost ready to release our second single, ‘Yuuhi wo Miteiruka?’ Make sure to keep an eye out for it, because it’s going to be epic!
Also, I’m participating in Idol KiSS, SnM’s anticipated summer project, and I’m a part of Emerald, AKA the best Idol KiSS group there is. Of course I’m not biased.
So I’ll wrap up my unnecessarily long introduction post by saying that I hope you all enjoyed it. I hope later posts will give you all a better sense of my personality. And on that note, my inner psych major is bugging me to let you all know that I’m an INTJ, or an INTP– I’m near a 50/50 split between J and P, so it pretty much changes with the weather. Go ahead and Google those if you’ve had no experience with learning about the Myers-Briggs types. It’s interesting, I promise.
And with that, I’ll peace out here. My future entries will hopefully be a lot more interesting than this one. And if they aren’t, you can, uh, go read some other blog entries on here, go watch some AKB48 PVs, or go listen to SnM songs. All totally acceptable alternatives. But hopefully they’ll be interesting enough, and I’ll do my best to provide you all with the latest SnM happenings on my part of the organization!
<3, Solaire.

Rawr. ‘Nyello everyone~ Joji desu >3
So… Uh… Joji’s late. She’d gotten a PM regarding the setting up of the Sekai blog at around quarter-past-two this afternoon GMT but she didn’t get round to doing this until… 7 in the evening… .x. Blame French oral exams… xD
Anyway, hello everyone~ This is Joji’s alter-ego introducing herself. So… Where to start? Aged 16 and born in the month of February (read: a purple girl), she currently resides in London with her immediate family but she was born and raised (to the age of 4) in Taiwan (both Taipei and Taichung). Currently, she going through the painstaking process of making sure that everything’s all fine and dandy (read: CORRECT, because the exam boards keep keying in her name in the wrong order) before her GCSE examinations - weheyy, fun~ \o/ For her GCSEs, Joji is taking (the compulsory) English Lang. & Lit., Mathematics, and three Sciences, (and the choices) French, History, Music and Latin (more on that later) - she aiming for at least 6 A* grades for these exams, because that’ll at least guarantee her an interview at Cambridge University, university choice numero uno. Next academic year, she’ll be taking IB - English, Maths & Japanese at Standard, Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at Higher - and she’s more than prepared to “commit suicide”. >x< She’s known to be very loyal to her friends and she does stand up for what she believes in - just what she believes in is generally very much different from what everyone else believes so she rarely speaks out unless it’s ranting on her LJ. She’s also notorious for referring to herself in third person - alter-ego or not. Oh - and she doesn’t dance… much.
Joji likes quite a number of things - languages (par exemple, la francais parce qu’a mon avis, la francais est une belle langue), sciences, music (en particulier, la musique japonais), surfing the internet (and not just using Facebook and MSN, because that’s just noob-styled), stalking her friends and communities on LJ, doing her homework (because she’s a nerd and she’s darn proud of it), singing, reading, eating (on all levels), writing stories and sleeping. She also recently developed an obsession with boybands - specifically boybands under Johnny’s Entertainment (but Shinwha and Super Junior pwn her heart too). Her voice range has expanded to include lower notes, and she knows lyrics to NEWS’ songs better than she knows how to differentiate - which is extremely important because she also decided to Additional Mathematics. She hates Marmite - it’s disgusting - and she despises two-faced people, or those who lack will to decide what to do. She also hates obscenely loud people who spends nearly all their time going “OH MY GAWD, LIKE, DID YOU HEARD, LIKE, THAT xxx DID IT WITH xxx AND LIKE, TOTALLY DIDN’T TELL ME, LIKE?“. Oh, and did she say? She hates text speak. >3 So, please, no tlkin lk diz because that’ll earn you more than enough smacks to permanantly damage your face (… unless your initials are MO, spent three years with her in the same class and is just as in love with Hana Yori Dango as she is).
So, how did Joji come to find Sekai no Melody? Well… She isn’t even entirely sure any more >x< It began, she believes, from when Elina of Sekai no Melody invited her to join Elina’s group - the one she can’t even recall because her memory span is tiny - but she saw many members there that were from Sekai no Melody and she decided to do some investigation. This investigation concluded that there was indeed an organisation on the Internet called Sekai no Melody and quickly, she decided to join - this was sometime around May/June 2007. She was accepted as a Generation 8 member, sorted under Saturnine~Wedding with Kimiko (who is… nowhere to be seen at the current moment in time), Purply, Michelle and Juna (who also disappeared on us). She managed to release on solo single, direct one 10-track album (known as Melancholic~Dream) and be part of S~W’s rendition of Hare Ame Nochi Suki (included in the first of the SnM Unreleased series) before the revamp sorted her as a member of Kristallen’s Generation 8. She’s… Just about absolutely everywhere on Sekai - she practically lives there now - and leads the Chinese Language Team (which is dead and needs more members, everyone D<). She’s not quite, but slowly becoming, a regular on Boystyle! Project, Anime! Project, BuriMyu! Project and Broadway! Project as well directing her own albums, officially and un-officially.
She’s not entirely sure what’ll she’ll talk about, here on SnM.BLOG, but it’s most likely updating on projects, podcasts, releases and all sorts of other stuff whilst giving the inside-out of the goings-ons in Sekai no Melody. Stay in tune, and stay in touch with her - she might post up some exclusive news brought to you from other members of Sekai no Melody. ^w^~
Joji’s alter-ego over and out >3
Joji: OI! STOP HIJACKING D<

Konyanyachiwa~!
Don’t let the title fool you. I’m not all that excited about this post. 8D Can you blame me? It’s an intro post started at 9:30 AM.
So, hi! I’m Kimitsu and I fail at writing introductory posts. At 20 going on 21, I’m also very likely the oldest poster here right now - but for all looks and purposes, consider me 15. Living in NYC, I’m currently a college sophomore (Did I say consider me 15? Okay, consider me a genius at 15.) in a Liberal Arts program, with a very undecided major and even more undecided future. I do, at least, know what I like - and that includes video games (I currently divide my time between going to school and attacking Shadows as a member of SEES during the Dark Hour - bonus points if you know the awesomeness that I am referring to), listening to music, Japanese pop culture, surfing the Internet, eating and snacking (but more of the latter), and singing. Oh, and occasionally performing the dancing equivalent of singing in the shower.
I’m a quiet sort of person unless given a blog or a forum reply box, in which case I tend to ramble. I’ve also taken courses in various forms of dance (ballet, Chinese, and most recently hip-hop/music video-styled choreography) and modelling, and cling on to a somewhat desperate hope of being an idol… but I may have to develop a personality first. X3 Everything else about me, true to my chosen Internet alias, will have to remain a secret.
My backstory at Sekai no Melody has a young girl of 19- sorry, 14, stumbling across an Internet singing group in March 2007 after reading about it and quickly signing up. This same girl became part of Sekai no Melody’s Generation 6 roster and was slipped into silent~elegy along with Ai-chan, Chiruha, and Fanny, the latter of whom unfortunately never showed up and was eventually replaced by Lille*Fluff. Following the revamp, she became a member of Kristallen, where she currently serves as the shadowy popsicle constantly trying to start revolts over silly things and also the go-to man-voice for random lines. She also reigns as one of the leaders of BOYSTYLE! Project (which plans to take over the world with boyband cover funkiness), and is apparent laissez-faire leader of Idol KiSS’ RUBY - the passionate/R&B group. If you really couldn’t figure out who this girl is, you may need to get glasses or a brain.
Here at SnM.Blog, I’ll probably be reviewing Sekai no Melody releases, and talking about various games and the snacks I eat. Along with throwing in words on Sekai no Melody’s inner workings, of course. Stick around, I’m sure you’ll find something to be interested in. :3

Yo and Hello. <3`
Hey guys! [: I’m Sorachu, the one and ONLY. (; My real name is Eileen, but I’d prefer you call me something other than that. u_u; I have many nicknames including: Koiichi, Sorabon, Sorachuu, Chuchu, Fish Girl, Koiibon, Koiichuu, Orange, Sora, Sorasora, Soso, and lots of other things. xD; I typically respond to most things now since I have too many nicknames. xD I don’t mind though, <3 I like nicknames. They’re fun, you know? :3
Um, anyway. I’m currently 16, and I will be turning 17 November 21st. :3 I live in Alaska, and NO. I don’t live in an igloo. Nor do I have pet polar bears or penguins. Sorry if I shattered your childhood. (: Anyway. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I am in advanced placement, or ‘honors’ classes. I recently just got elected the vice-president of my student body government in my school. I’m also part of my track and field’s varsity team, as a discus thrower. :3 And no, I’m not a beast. I’m quite the wimp. 8D
I joined Sekai no Melody as a Gen05 girl last year during January. I was originally placed in the group ‘Moonlight::Game’ with two other members, one whose name was Cassandra [ Now known as Tomie], and another girl who I don’t remember the name of due to her never actually joining us. ]: After the revamp, I was put into another group.. I don’t quite remember the name of it unfortunately. It was too hectic then, so I’m not sure what exactly happened and all, I suppose. Between those two groups, I also auditioned for ‘Pure Ambition’, and much to my surprise and delight, passed the audition! I was quite happy. <3` Um. This year, I actually quit for a bit due to stress and conflicts with my outer life, but I quickly rejoined because I realized life is full of stress and I couldn’t keep away from SnM even though I did quit. xD; Ahaha. SnM has really helped me grow as a singer though. My pronunciation has IMMENSELY improved. Like woah. xD; I’ve also met many wonderful people, and I’m really grateful for everything. As of now, I’m currently in TarotCafe, and PureAmbition as a gen01 member. [: I also am the co-leader for the Boy!Style Project, and a regular in several other subprojects. [: Oh! And I’m part of Idol KiSS’s ‘cute’ group, Rosequartz! <3`
Singing, photography, graphics, and fashion are my passions. [; I also like to read, write, and play games when I have time, or when I’m not focused on something more meaningful to me, I guess. I have a personal website which is currently on hiatus, but once summer hits up again, will turn into…something amazing, hopefully. xD;
For the most part, I’m a very likeable person. I tend to be quite sarcastic, and I’m also often viewed as a ’serious’ person, so no one ever thinks I’m joking, haha. Though.. I’m almost always joking and I’m hardly ever serious. I am a huge equality fan, so if things aren’t fair, I do tend to complain about it. But, I am getting better about that… I think. Um. I’m also quite …happy and perky. Most people get mad at me in the morning because I always am ‘bubbly’. They don’t know where I get the energy, haha. But yeah.
Hopefully I’ll be able to talk about interesting things whilst posting here. >3<; My main topics will probably revolve around music, fashion, photography, or art. However, I probably will talk about a vast variety of topics, so don’t be distressed if I cover a topic you don’t like. D:!
Anyway, byee! <33`
Peace ‘n Love!
Sorachu.
P.S — Did I mention I’m in Earth Club, and I’m vegetarian? 8D; -shot-
